Tetra....I think you have a good grasp on the startings of Buddha's teachings. Of course Taoism and Shintoism may be paths for you. When I was a JW I used to laugh at the Buddhist mindset and "metaphor speak". Now, it makes sense to me. JT's experience and teachings are....well.....self centered IMHO. JT....please no offense meant.
Tetra you must realize how little you know in order to learn how much there is to learn. The cool thing about eastern philosophy is the ability to pick and choose what fits you. There isn't a 100% correct way....only your path. Tetra...you have embarked on "your path". Please be patient and understanding in this journey. I respect you as a poster a lot. Unfortunately, we all get blinded by our own JW'ish experience and assume the worst out of all religions. You can be spiritual without being religious. I'm sure you'll find your journey an interesting one.

The Grasshopper 'IN' The Shoe Box

this fisherman (dave)picked up a newly fisherman (paul)in his community one early morning, and on route to their destination, which was some distance, paul noticed a shoe box on the front seat.
he also heard lots of noises in the shoe box.

Huge shock!

i can't believe the new levels of cruelty possible within families who are jws.. a friend on this board who i've known since i was a baby practically has managed to get me a picture of my little sister who i haven't seen for 8 years - the one who i've mentioned my dad said was working on the bethel quick build team.
the one who i've described my fears that she and my younger sister are staying single until armageddon.

Me? Screw the newspaper. I'd do a self mailer or an envelope package. Send it to the 5,000 addresses right next to your parent's and sister's houses. Make it true. Make it snarky. A 5,000 piece mailing should cost you about $ 2,000 including postage. I say money well spent!!!! If you can't afford that much then make the mailing list 2,500 people...that would cost you about $ 1,200. LOL.
Of course you could print it out yourself at a "Kinko's" or whatever and only cost you 1/2 of the above prices. SCREW EM!!!
Send out 5,000 letters with a picture of your sister asking "Have you seen my sister"? Like they have on the back of milk cartons. LOL -
